Community & Faith Leaders to Conduct Vigil urging Gov. to Sign Immigrant-friendly Bills

San Bernardino, CA – The Justice for Immigrants Coalition of Inland Southern California (JFIC) and its coalition partners will conduct a vigil urging Gov. Brown to sign the immigrant-friendly bills AB 1081 and AB 1064. Known as the Trust Act and Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, respectively, these bills would create a positive change and improvement in the lives of countless immigrants in the Inland Empire. We hold a vigil to remember the countless families that have been separated by the federal program Secure Communities.  As well as upholding, the labor rights of domestic workers.

What: Vigil in Support of Trust Act and Domestic Workers Bill of Rights.

When: Friday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.

Where: San Bernardino County Sheriff HQ 655 E. 3rd Street San Bernardino, Ca.

Who; Community and Faith leader and local organizations

Why: Secure Communities, has led to a record number of deportations and family separations. In California alone, S.Comm has deported over 75,000 people of whom 70 percent had no conviction or only a minor offence. The DWBoR will tackle the lack of protections domestic workers deserve and instill within the labor code the same basic rights every worker is guaranteed.
